In 1965 Jim Leblanc was a test subjection for an extremely dangerous NASA experiment. Testing the ability of a space suit design to withstand a total vacuum, the stakes were high and the cards weren't in his favor.

I am sure that modern day astronauts appreciate all the previous testing that has been done. This "incident" would have played out much differently in space!
